Goldendoodles are a deliberate cross between a Golden Retriever and a Standard Poodle.
They come in various colours but are usually either shades of Apricot, Cream, White and Black.
They are extremely good natured , laid back dogs who tend to be very loving, sociable and very easily trained.
Their coats vary in texture from soft and wavy fleece coats to a wavy hair coat.
Hair coats:
The hair coat is very easily maintained and does not seem to grow long like the fleece coat. You do tend to find the hair coat can shed some hair although not in large amounts in comparison to the Golden Retriever. They dont need regular clipping and a trip to the groomers once or twice a year is usually sufficient to keep them looking neat and tidy although individual dogs can vary.
Fleece Coats:
The fleece coat on the other hand is quite high maintenance and needs regular grooming to keep it in tip top condition. The can vary from a soft fleece to a thicker woollier fleece, both do need regular attention and regular clipping to keep them tangle free. Fleecy coats do not seem to shed hair but again all dogs can be different.
Please note that all dogs are individual and you can NEVER, 100 per cent guarantee that they wont shed hair at all. Although if they do shed they do tend to have hypo allegenic properties when it comes to people having allergies to ordinary dog hair and dander, again this can be entirely down to the individual dog and person. It would be unfair to guarantee this to anyone.
They are quite a large dog varying from 23-27 inches in height but despite their large size are very gentle dogs.
You would be hard pushed to find a more ideally suited family dog as they love to please you and love everybody and everything and are suited to the general family hustle and bustle of a family life.
